The network features lifestyle programming, with a mix of reality, culinary, home renovation and makeover series. The network originally launched in 1999 as "The Biography Channel", being an offshoot of the A&E television series Biography. As such, it originally featured factual programs, such as reruns of its namesake. As A&E shifted its focus towards reality television and drama series, the Biography Channel became the home for several series that had been displaced by the network (including Biography itself), but shifted towards reality-oriented series itself in 2007 with a re-brand as simply "Bio".

Licensed as The Biography Channel by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) on November 24, 2000; the channel was launched on September 7, 2001 as a joint venture between Rogers Media (33.34%), Shaw Communications (33.33%) and A&E Networks (33.33%)—who owned the network's American counterpart. Biography Channel relaunched as FYI on July 7, 2014; Shaw's Twist TV became a Canadian version of FYI on September 1, 2014. In 2006, both Shaw and A&E sold their interests in the channel to Rogers. This excursion had us traveling away from the podcast mic to a seat in front of a camera. We had the honor of spending a bit of time as historical consultants for the Biography Channel this past year. We made our maiden voyage to the A&E offices and studios in New York, sat down in front of camera and told the tales of some of history’s most interesting people. The result of that work is the mini-biographies listed below. We really enjoyed doing this, hope that we get the opportunity again and want to give a big, “thank you” to Producer Caitlin Van Mol for bringing us not only to New York but also onto these videos.

Rockford and Winnebago have never had a boundary agreement, and leaders want to change that. Justice Department submitted a proposed regulation that would prohibit the sale of bump stocks, which allow semiautomatic weapons to fire bullets rapidly like an automatic weapon. But defining the line could impact a number of things, from spurring future development, to changing people's property taxes.
